Move for Hunger is a nonprofit organization that works with relocation companies to collect non-perishable food items, and deliver it to food banks all across North America. To date they have delivered over 4.7m meals to food banks across North America. If you are moving, find a mover in their network.


The Challenge

Move for Hunger was looking to increase their traffic through Google AdWords, organic traffic and social media. The more people that use their Find a Mover tool means the more moves that ensure excess food is donated to a family in need. In addition they were looking for a more efficient way to add interested movers to their Salesforce database and newsletter system.

What we did

In 2015, Whole Whale worked closely with the Move for Hunger team to improve tracking and traffic in order to boost impact. Over the course of 6 months WW was able to 2.5x web traffic through a mix of AdWords, SEO content marketing, and social media analytics. A year after our work, MFH saw a 110% increase in organic traffic YoY for September 2016.

Google Analytics + Impact Mapping

In order to better track the online impact of Move for Hunger’s Find a Mover tool, we worked with the team to integrate and configure Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager to track online conversions more accurately. Once goals for behavior were established, we created dashboards that allowed the team to see what was working based on the source of traffic and regional activity.

Google Adwords

By expanding on helpful moving tips and rerouting landing pages, Whole Whale tripled the AdWords Grant spend within the first two months. Within five months, the account was optimized enough to qualify for GrantsPro, which means $40k/month in free advertising.


Content Marketing + SEO

Whole Whale used analytics and keyword market research to help the MFH team create a list of content that will help attract the type of search traffic interested in moving. We also performed an SEO audit that identified critical website changes/updates that will build traffic over time.
