The Whole Whale Fellowship Program is designed to prepare recent graduates, young professionals, or those seeking a new career path for full-time employment in the nonprofit and social impact sector by providing hands-on experience and skill-building with digital marketing. Fellows have the opportunity to grow their skills in digital marketing, advertising, and analytics while supporting both internal and client projects. Our fellowships are a 4-month commitment, and fellows are compensated with a weekly stipend. We’d like to consider candidates who have an interest in possibly joining our team full-time.

Advertising Manager (Full-Time)
Whole Whale seeks an Advertising Manager to support our growing Digital Advertising team. The ideal candidate has a deep interest in and experience with digital advertising and a deep commitment to social impact work.
- This is a full-time staff position offered at the Manager level. As part of our DEIB Commitment, Whole Whale has transparent salary bands by level to ensure fair compensation across our team. The salary range for this role at the Manager level is $54,000 – $66,000. Our total compensation package also includes competitive benefits such as 401k company match, employee profit-share, student loan reimbursement, unlimited PTO, and more.
- Role will primarily be focused on client digital advertising strategy (~70% time) and account management (~30% time).
- This role has an option to be Fully Remote

Responsibilities
Digital Advertising Campaign Strategy
- Oversee paid digital advertising campaign strategy for 3-5 nonprofit clients, supporting in recommending budgets, platforms, targeting, campaign messaging, and more
- Ensure accurate execution of digital advertising campaigns for clients across platforms, including but not limited to Meta, Google (video, search, display), programmatic display, and more
- Manage nonprofit Google Ad Grant accounts, including providing high-level direction for search budgets, bid strategies, keyword targeting, and ad messaging
- Brainstorm new campaign ideas and testing opportunities to drive more conversions and increase return — you are never satisfied with flat lines on a graph
- Deepen and expand the expertise and capacity of Whole Whale’s advertising department through research of new ad platforms, tools, strategies, and tactics to drive success
Client Account Management
- Serve as the main point of contact for 1-3 nonprofit clients; lead regular meetings, set client expectations, answer questions, guide strategy, present reports and deliverables, and communicate progress on projects
- Provide a 30K foot view for clients to best leverage Whole Whale’s digital marketing capabilities to help them make progress towards their impact goals; translate client goals into tasks that can be supported by the broader Whole Whale team
- Lead project management for assigned clients; define project objectives, set timelines, and work with team members to delegate work relevant to their expertise to meet project milestones and deadlines
- Be a partner and advocate for clients internally and find ways to deliver quality service and support, exceed their expectations, and increase their digital impact
- Lead Zoom and in-person trainings and presentations on topics related to digital impact measurement, advertising, or other areas of expertise

- People management: Act as the direct manager for employees on the Advertising team
- Business development: Support our business development efforts, including communicating with potential leads, joining pitch calls, and drafting proposals for new work
- Product leadership: Support our product team in managing WW products (like Whole Whale University and WWU Live) and/or in pitching and developing new products (like our new Inclusivity Tool) that support our nonprofit partners
- Whole Whale marketing: Build, scale and produce WW content (site resources, videos, social content, etc.) and find other creative ways of marketing our services and products
- Internal operations: Take part in internal processes for hiring new team members, choosing client projects to work on, building WW culture, cultivating internal expertise, or participating in other internal systems
Qualifications
- Comprehensive understanding of digital advertising strategy & tactics, including for lead generation, fundraising, traffic, conversions, and brand awareness
- Experience building and managing digital advertising campaigns on Facebook, Google, YouTube, and/or other digital platforms
- Demonstrated experience effectively managing project workflows independently
- 2+ years of professional experience, especially in roles involving digital marketing and/or project management with a high bar for rigor, quality, and integrity
- Comfortable moving seamlessly from big picture strategy to supporting on tactical implementation when needed
- Creative problem-solver driven by a need to look to the data, iterate, think outside the box, and try new things to deliver even better results
- Great attention to detail and organizational skills – able to successfully and independently manage multiple projects at once

Senior Advertising Associate (Full-Time)
Whole Whale is looking for a Senior Advertising Associate to support our growing Digital Advertising team. The ideal candidate has a deep interest in and experience with digital advertising and a deep commitment to social impact work.

The salary range for this role at the Senior Associate level is $48,000 – $56,000. - Be the assigned advertising lead for 3-5 nonprofit clients; Manage individual workflow and clearly interpret and present campaign data and performance to nonprofit partners
- Lead advertising strategy discussions, present recommendations, and report regularly around paid ads on client calls; answer client questions related to ads
- Identify and report actionable insights for clients using data from multiple sources, including web & social media analytics and search tools
- Create reports to share campaign results using Google Analytics (GA4), Google Sheets, and other platforms
- Lead hands-on trainings with clients on paid advertising, the Google Ad Grant, and other areas of expertise

- Experience with digital fundraising and Google Analytics (and/or other web and social media analytics) a plus

Full-Time Whaler Benefits
Every full-time hire undergoes a three-month “swim test” but is eligible to enroll in core benefits like health, vision, and dental care right away. Base salary for entry-level roles starts at $45k.
Whole Whale’s full awesome benefits for full-time employees include:
- Annual profit share: A percentage of profits are shared as a 401k distribution to full-time employees who qualify. This has historically equated to approximately 10% of base salary.
- 100% Paid Health, vision, dental care: Base plan for Health, vision, and dental premiums fully covered in one option along with additional plans to meet your needs.
- Unlimited PTO: Minimum of 10 vacation or sick days must be taken each year. We count work getting done – not working days.
- Technology budget: New employees get a tech setup budget for a computer and equipment as needed. Presently, Whole Whale is also providing extra equipment to facilitate work-from-home productivity.
- Learning budget: $750 a year to spend on approved educational activities, books, classes, or conferences. We’re serious about learning.
- Wellness budget: $400 a year to spend on enhancing your physical and mental wellbeing.
- Cell phone: Whole Whale covers phone costs up to $700/year for any employees who choose to join the company Verizon phone plan.
- 401k with 4% company match: Whole Whale matches up to 4% of salary contribution.
- Student loan assistance: After 1 year, whalers can receive up to $600/yr ($50 off their monthly payments) to support paying off their student loans (up to $1800/yr after 3+ yrs).
- Commission: Whalers can earn a 5% commission fee up to $5,000 for any new business they generate.
- Work abroad month: After 2.5 years, full-time employees have the opportunity to work abroad for up to one month. Includes a reduced 4-day work week and up to $2,500 towards the trip cost (reputable remote work partners provided).
- Paid parental leave: New parents can take up to 12 weeks of paid leave to be with their new child. After that, up to 3 months of unpaid leave or flexible time can be arranged.
- In-office perks when we reopen: WW is currently fully remote but is planning on reopening a Brooklyn office in 2022.
- Staff retreat: Once a year the team goes on a staff retreat for team-building and goal-setting activities. The Poconos and upstate NY have been popular destinations.
