The Whole Whale Fellowship Program is designed to prepare recent graduates, young professionals, or those seeking a new career path for full-time employment in the nonprofit and social impact sector by providing hands-on experience and skill-building with digital marketing. Fellows have the opportunity to grow their skills in digital marketing, advertising, and analytics while supporting both internal and client projects. Our fellowships are a 4-month commitment, and fellows are compensated with a weekly stipend. We’d like to consider candidates who have an interest in possibly joining our team full-time.

Digital Advertising Fellow (Part Time)

Whole Whale’s Fellowship Program helps prepare recent graduates and young professionals for full-time employment in the nonprofit and social impact sector by providing hands-on experience and skill-building with digital marketing. The Digital Advertising Fellow for Winter/Spring 2022 will focus on developing skills in digital advertising, Google Ad Grant management, campaign analysis, and more.

Whole Whale’s Fellowship is a 4 month program, where fellows are expected to work 4 days per week (days flexible) remotely until it is safe to return to our office in Brooklyn, NY. Fellows will earn a weekly stipend of $480 per week for hours worked. This Fellowship will begin in February 2022 and run through June 2022. 

Following the completion of the Fellowship program, Fellows will have the opportunity to apply for a full-time role with Whole Whale, depending on performance and client needs. We’d like to consider candidates who have an interest in joining our team full-time.

Responsibilities 

Daily responsibilities will vary depending on individual project needs, but your core responsibilities will include:

Digital Advertising Campaign Strategy + Management

  • Plan and execute Facebook, YouTube, Google and other digital advertising campaigns for WW and nonprofit clients
  • Brainstorm and test new campaign ideas to optimize for ad success, including ongoing ad copy updates and keyword research
  • Meticulously set-up paid campaigns with an eye on every small detail and check box
  • Research audiences, targeting, and ad placements to maximize campaign outcomes and client impact
  • Create and manage strategies for nonprofit Google Ad Grant accounts, including determining search budgets, bid strategies, keyword targeting, and ad messaging

Campaign Analysis and Reporting

  • Manage individual workflow and assist client managers in clearly presenting and interpreting campaign data and performance for our nonprofit partners
  • Think creatively to find and report actionable insights for clients using data from multiple sources, including web & social media analytics and search tools, among others
  • Create dashboards and reports to share campaign results in Google Data Studio, Google Analytics, Sheets, and other platforms

Communication + Capacity-Building

  • Create digital advertising recommendations and training documents for nonprofit clients
  • Help us continuously improve Whole Whale’s approach to advertising by keeping a finger on the pulse of new ad platforms, tools, strategies, and tactics to drive success
  • Write and edit digital marketing content (e.g. blog posts, podcasts, YouTube videos, etc.) on digital advertising and other relevant nonprofit topics that are of interest to you

Email Marketing Fellow (Part Time)

Email Marketing + Content Optimization

  • Become an expert on developing and executing email marketing strategies for nonprofits
  • Write and edit marketing copy for nonprofit client and Whole Whale email campaigns
  • Plan, run, and report on A/B tests for email pop-ups, landing page conversions, and form signups on nonprofit partner websites
  • Learn your way around nonprofit email marketing platforms like MailChimp and EveryAction, including list segmentation, automations, and other engagement strategies
  • Uncover insights in client email marketing campaigns using data from email marketing platforms and Google Analytics
  • Aid in SEO keyword research and content modeling for WW and our clients

Communication + Capacity-Building

  • Develop and contribute to recommendations and training documents for nonprofit clients
  • Help us continuously improve Whole Whale’s approach to email marketing by keeping a finger on the pulse of new email platforms, tools, strategies, and tactics to drive success

Full-time Whaler Benefits

All full-time entry-level employees start at $45,000 per year + undergo a three month “swim test.” Enroll in core benefits like healthcare right away. Staff retreat. Twice a year the team goes on a staff retreat for team-building and goal-setting activities. The Poconos and upstate NY have been popular destinations.
Whale Abroad Month. After completing 2.5 years of full-time employment at the company, Whalers can go on a 1-month work from abroad trip with a reduced 4-day work week schedule. Whole Whale will cover up to $2,500 of the trip cost.
