Digital Analyst (Full Time)

Our Digital Analyst Whaler will work with our analytics team to dive deep into Google Analytics and other web data platforms to come up with valuable insights and recommendations for our clients that will help them multiply their impact. They are inherently curious and would be able to describe Google Analytics to a 5-year-old. This is an entry-level position with lots of opportunities to learn and contribute across many facets of our company. Whole Whale is headquartered in DUMBO, Brooklyn. This whaler has the option to work out of our Brooklyn, Denver, or San Francisco office.

Responsibilities:

Google Analytics Analysis, Reporting, + Insights

  • Think creatively to find actionable insights for clients using Google Analytics data
  • Create custom insight reports from client data such as newsletter/email data, donations, social media, AdWords, and SEO
  • Create custom report templates in Excel to track things like ad spend results
  • Translate findings into easy-to-understand reports for clients and present at client meetings
  • Be the canary in the coal mine for our clients’ web data

Google Analytics Configuration

  • Perform Google Analytics Account Audits for new clients
  • Set up, configure, and manage Google Analytics accounts from the back end
  • Set up and manage Google Tag Manager accounts for clients
  • Oversee things like campaign tagging, event tracking, & goal set up for client accounts
  • Build custom dashboards, custom reports, and Data Studio Reports for clients
  • Communicate with website admins/developers on configuration in situations where we don’t have site access

Search Engine Optimization

  • Perform keyword analysis to inform clients’ content strategies
  • Perform technical SEO audits & work with our content team to create SEO and content strategies from the data you analyze

Writing

  • Write and edit blog posts on Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and other topics that are of interest to you

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited organization or relevant experience
  • Experience with Google Analytics and turning numbers into stories
  • Familiarity with Google AdWords, Google Tag Manager or other web analytics platforms
  • Familiarity with email platforms like MailChimp or Constant Contact
  • Advanced Excel skills a must. 10x productivity with formulas.
  • You’re a web data ninja. No squirrels allowed.
  • Superb attention to detail + stickler about making sure reports are “on brand” and help clients learn something new every month.
  • You’re a do-er. You’re eager to climb up the learning ladder and implement your learnings quickly.
  • You’re not afraid to fail. You take calculated risks and understand the importance of being agile.
  • Empathetic – you understand the motivations and feelings of those around you and respond appropriately

Digital Analytics Intern (Summer)

Our Digital Analytics Intern will work with our Impact team, using Google Analytics and other digital data to find opportunities and insights for our clients. You are an instigator for good, and will create data-informed recommendations for our clients that will help them multiply their impact. The Digital Analytics Intern will work 4 days a week from June to August, and will be paid a monthly stipend. 

Responsibilities

  • Create insight reports from client data using Google Analytics

  • Perform Google Analytics Account Audits for new clients
  • Configure Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager accounts
  • Oversee things like campaign tagging, event tracking, & goal set up for client accounts
  • Build custom dashboards and custom reports for clients based on their individual needs
  • Write and edit blog posts on data, nonprofits, and other topics that are of interest to you

Qualifications

  • Experience with Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager
  • MS Office Ninja (especially Excel) and google equivalents
  • Passionate about social causes
  • Desire to learn. Seriously, we know that everyone starts from somewhere, we’re interested in people that want to learn — even if they don’t have experience with a specific program.
  • Bonus: SEO, social media analytics, or email analytics experience
